Mission Statement

CTSMD’s mission is to support productions and classes that showcase and educate local talent while enhancing the artistic experience for all who participate, whether on stage, behind the scenes, or in the audience.

​We seek to foster, promote, and increase the public knowledge and appreciation of the arts and cultural activities in Southern Maryland, while developing opportunities for children in theatre arts.

Children’s Theatre of Southern Maryland engages, inspires, entertains, and challenges participants with theatrical productions that range from classic dramas and musicals to new and original works; trains and supports the next generation of theatre artists, provides arts education opportunities covering all aspects of a production to promote life-long learning to a diverse community, and celebrates the essential power of the theatre.

Our volunteer opportunities allow you to exercise your passion for public service and the performing arts while providing support to the overall mission of CTSMD. ​View our Volunteer Handbook and join the family!

Become a Member
​Purchase an annual Family CTSMD Membership today and support our mainstage productions!  Memberships extend to all members of your family and provide you with early access to camp registrations and the right to attend and vote at annual meetings.

Become a Captain
The Captain’s Program aims to develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills in young people while providing them with a deeper understanding of all aspects of the theatre’s operations. Students will learn to grow in leadership and skill; mentoring younger participants and assisting in the creative process.  Apply here.
